Meet the Pixers is our blog series where we introduce you to the talented folks who make our company a success. Today, we’re featuring Julie Crew, our Senior Engineer, Manager.

Tell us a little bit about your background:

I live on Vancouver Island, Canada with my husband, Alex, my 2 daughters (Emma and Kaya), our dog, Manny and our cat, Sammy. I have a degree in English as opposed to Computer Science like most other engineers. I graduated from college during the dot com boom and went to work for a start up where I was lucky to have some patient and kind engineers to help me get started as a web developer. I have worked for many different sized companies over the years and been very fortunate to work with some great groups of people.

What is the last thing you watched on YouTube?

Taylor Swift Midnights album videos.

What is the best career advice you have ever received?

No one has ever really given me career advice, but I would welcome certainly some good advice!

What advice would you give to someone starting out in their career?

Stay humble. Never stop learning and expanding your knowledge and areas of expertise. Ask questions until you understand your work. Answer questions with patience and kindness. Remember the tech industry can be small (and so can the world for that matter), so treat people well even if you don’t think you’ll cross paths with them again. Stack Overflow is your friend.
