Baker brings more than 15 years of data science expertise to video ad buying technology company
Boston, MA — Pixability, a video ad buying and marketing technology company, has announced the appointment of John Baker as Chief Data Scientist. Baker brings more than fifteen years of experience building tools, teams, and platforms to solve analytics, data science, and data engineering challenges.
Reporting to Pixability CTO Andreas Goeldi, Baker will lead Pixability’s data science team in extracting actionable insights from large sets of video marketing data, and leveraging analytics to drive significant business impact for Pixability’s brand and agency customers. Premium video platforms require a greater level of sophistication for optimal media performance, and data science is critical to achieving those results. Baker will also be responsible for developing new models and analytics functionality for Pixability’s video ad buying platform.

Prior to Pixability, Baker served as CEO & Chief Scientist of DataKin, where he successfully drove the company’s go-to-market strategy; Director of Analytics of Affectiva, where he spearheaded the development of the company’s analytics platform; Director of Analytics at Moontoast, where he set the vision for the analytics product suite; and Co-Founder and CTO of Performance Analytics, where he built, marketed and launched a Web 2.0 product, and acquired 6,000 customers before selling the company in 2012.

Baker is also founder of The Data Scientist, a data science meet-up group with 4,000 members across chapters in Boston, New York, and Washington, DC, and author of the upcoming book, “Building Data Science, The Chief Data Scientist’s Field Guide to Building Teams, Tools and Strategy.” He holds a masters degree in Engineering Management from the MIT Sloan School of Management, and a dual Bachelor degree in Mathematics and Computer Science from Hawaii Pacific University.
